WHO AM I?

Growing up in a multicultural family, I quickly learned to have an open mind toward different people and cultures which has allowed me to form strong connections all over the world. From a young age, I developed an interest in languages. I grew up speaking Dutch and English, learned four additional languages in high school and university, and learned two additional languages by living abroad. 

As a freelance journalist, I enjoy writing about travel, fashion, and food. Being able to combine my love for writing and storytelling with my passions is what makes this job such a good fit to me. 

I have a bachelor's degree in International Relations and International Organization and a master's degree in Journalism from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. In 2023, I interned for four months as an editorial member at LINDA.nl - the Netherlands' biggest online brand for women aged 25-55. I also worked as an editor at F1Maximaal.nl, a Dutch news website about Formula 1. My current focus is on newsletter writing, primarily through my personal Substack newsletter, Shallolá. Shallolá focuses on travel, food, and personal development: shallola.substack.com.
